Jurisdictional Engagement

  • Consult with clients to develop staging strategies for construction, prepare staging plans and present them to the DOT in order to negotiate optimal permit stipulations.

  • Obtain approvals and permits for work on bridges and piers.

  • Obtain approvals to temporarily remove or relocate street lights and traffic signals.

  • Obtain approvals for building and utility vaults.

  • Obtain approvals for temporary and permanent traffic regulation changes.

  • Obtain approvals for relocation of bus stops during construction.

  • Obtain approvals for revocable consents such as planters, sidewalk canopies, fences, stoops, bike racks, overhead bridges, and other such infrastructure to be placed on, under or over City streets.

Violations Mitigation

  • Represent clients who are issued DOT, DOB, FDNY, DEP, and Sanitation violations that are adjudicated at OATH by:

  • Performing in-depth research of the merits of violations - consulting with clients, performing code research, reviewing permits, photos, project logs and anything else that could potentially become persuasive evidence at a hearing.

  • Developing strategies about the best way to adjudicate violations.

  • Representing clients before Administrative Law Judges in hearings at the OATH.

  • Researching violation accounts.

  • Obtaining copies of violations and affidavits of service.

  • Obtaining stays of default, if permissible.

  • Preparing appeals to objectionable decisions.

  • Appearing as Civil Complainant at OATH for matters that are tied to Civil cases.

Department of Environmental Protection

  • Assist plumbers, architects, engineers, and contractors prosecuting work at the DEP.

  • Consulting about filing requirements

  • Preparing form work, filing, and obtaining approval from the sever division for site connection proposals

  • Preparing formwork, filing, and obtaining approval from the Cross Connection Unit and Sewer Division of DEP

  • Prepare applications and obtain permits for water connections, plugs, and meter permits as well as sewer connections and plug permits

  • Obtain hydrant tap and water use permits for use of water during construction

  • Obtain permits to install, remove, and relocate fire hydrants

Code and Zoning Consulting

  • Review zoning permissions with respect to use and size of prospective projects to help developers assess project feasibility.

  • Perform technical plan reviews for conformance with applicable building and fire codes.

  • Perform on-site compliance inspections for existing construction and new developments, including but not limited to structural elements, fire assemblies, and fire protection systems.

  • Assist designers during concept and design development phase to review constructability issues such as fire protection, egress, and handicap accessibility.

  • Evaluate how other bodies of law such as Housing Maintenance Code and Multiple Dwelling Law may affect projects.

  • Assist law firms by conducting records research, performing code and zoning research; prepare reports, testify for depositions and at hearings.
